Marriage Monday is Coming!

Topic: How to be a Helpmate

You're invited to join us for Marriage Monday on Dec. 3, 2012. Please come and share your marriage wisdom.

If you read Genesis 2:18 in context, you'll agree that Eve was created to help Adam in the practical matter of day-to-day living. (In their case, tending the Garden.)
So how do you flesh that verse out in your own marriage, especially in light of today's struggling economy?

As always, you're free to approach this topic in whatever way the Spirit leads. Remember, you're the expert! However, if you need a little encouragement to get started, read on.

Six Writing Prompts

1. What does the biblical role of "helpmate" mean to you?

2. To give us a clearer understanding of Gen 2:18, define the word "helpmate" from the original Hebrew.

3. Some couples feel that the role of full-time homemaker is obsolete in our culture. Do you?

4. Can a Christian wife who has a lucrative full-time career—and delegates the housework and childcare to others—still be valued a "helpmate" by her husband?

5. Share some ways that a Christian wife can act as a "helpmate" to her husband in matters of the heart.

6. Challenge Prompt: Experts say that traditional marriages—with a clear division of labor between work and homemaking—are happier, and longer lasting. Research how the hormones testosterone and oxytocin contribute to marital health and happiness.

As always, I can't wait to read your post on Monday. See you then!

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” (Gen 2:18 ESV)
