Christian Hospitality: Top Fave Five

Good Times are Ahead!

Are you getting excited about the approaching holiday season?
I can’t wait!

Seeking inspiration, this week I spent some time searching through my archives for articles about autumn mirth and merrymaking. I hope you’ll enjoy these five links to popular posts at Chrysalis and my hospitality site, Susannah’s {Kitchen}. If you've seen them before, it doesn't hurt to jog your memory. Right?

1. Why Christian Hospitality? 10 Good Reasons to Open Our Homes

There are many Bible verses which encourage hospitality. Find out why...

2. The Jewish Feast of Booths (Tabernacles)

This joyful celebration called Sukkot runs from Sept. 23 - Oct. 1 in 2010, and it will conclude at sundown on Friday. Review the Christian symbolism behind the seventh Levitical Feast of the Lord.

3. 13 Ways to Celebrate (U.S.) Thanksgiving

Here are a few ideas to help make your family gathering more meaningful than simply gorging on delicious holiday fare. For example, consider organizing a children’s parade, a “Pie and Praise” event, or reading Lincoln’s Proclamation.

4. Let Grandparents Shine at the Holidays

Discover three ways the elder folk in your family tribe can serve as valued story-tellers.

5. Parlour Games and Amusements at the Table

Do you know the rules to The Minister’s Cat,
Squeak Piggy Squeak, and Elephant’s Foot Umbrella Stand? If not,
learn how to play these thoroughly entertaining parlour games.

6. (BONUS)
For the Happy Hostess: Special Order PLUS Size Vintage-Inspired Aprons

These are the prettiest 1X to 4X apron styles anywhere on the internet!
This week I received an order for six aprons from a sweet sister who is organizing a church auction. Let me know if need PLUS size aprons for a similar fund-raiser, bazaar, or function.

Great post! Was checking out all the great links. This is something my husband and I want to do more of.

Some of my lame excuses - It is hard with having to get a base pass. I also get really tied up in making everything be perfect that I lose sight of who I'm doing it for and make everyone miserable and stressed as I am.

Thank you for sharing! :)

This is just awesome...I will have to go through all these sites!!! I also love the picture of the long table...it looks like our family times. My parents are moving up here so the grandparent site will be great also.
I already had a neighborhood caroling party in mind..we haven't done it here, but at our old neighborhoods...always fun and always a blessing

Love that apron! So cute and fallish.

Next week is our Canadian Thanksgiving as you know so we're gearing up already for the hospitality. Definitely checking out your link to the table games. Sounds like fun.

I want to check out the games most of all. I haven't thought too much about the holiday season yet, but what I am most looking forward to is having all my kids together again. We just all moved in different directions in August, and this is the longest we've been apart.

I can't wait to sit down and read these. They look like great articles!

I love the holidays. I got a nice dose of hospitality from a friend this week, and it made me want to return the favor. Something I should do more of.

Have a great week ahead.

oh I'm looking forward to teaching the kids more about christ.. it's been so much as they learn the meaning of who he is and what he's done! We've had neat ways to serve and I want to do something creative this year so they will remember it!
On the party front, doing Sinterklaas day is becoming my new favorite thing for the kids! They are loving it!
all in all I love the Christmas season!

and I apologize, with the homeschooling, I'm getting behind in my outside visiting blogs this season, so know I read even if I'm not posting as much this time around!!
