Friday Fave Five
Giggling. Yes, I can count. I know there are only three women
in the photo!
We’ve turned the corner into August, and I’m starting to think about autumn Bible study options. Are you? The following Bible teachers are enormously popular among Christian women. In fact, a significant number of random visitors to Chrysalis arrive as google searchers on a quest for biographical information about them.
You might be interested in learning a little about the personal lives of these teachers too. They are listed in order of their popularity in the searches. (Kay Arthur is the favorite by far!)
1. Kay Arthur — Precept Ministries International
2. Beth Moore — Living Proof Ministries
3. Kay Warren — Say Yes to God
4. Jill Briscoe — Telling the Truth
5. Elisabeth Elliot — Daily Devotional
Please join Susanne and the others for her popular Friday Fave Five meme at Living to Tell the Story. Good times and good friends!

Each one of you says, "I follow Paul," or "I follow Apollos," or "I follow Cephas," or "I follow Christ." Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. (1 Cor 1:12-15 ESV)

THANKS for the link to Elizabeth Elliot! Kay Arthur is my long time favorite Bible Study leader! I've been part of her studies for many years!
I am in anticipation of the bible studies that will be offered here at our Encouraging Women's fellowship.
thanks for the links. I enjoy Beth Moore's studies a lot, maybe it's time to try a different person.
My two favorites right at the top!! I've met Kay Arthur twice. She is a dynamo and I still can't believe how old she is!!
I love, love Beth Moore! I'm going soon to see her at a Living Proof Live Conference. Yay!
I enjoy Kay Arthur studies too. As a matter of fact, I just bought several of her children's studies to do with my oldest son before school each day. I'm really looking forward to it.
I would also add Dee Brestin. I've done a couple of her studies and heard her speak at a conference. She's a good one!
In the late spring, the ladies at our church did a study by Lysa TerKeurst - Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl. It was excellent.
These ladies are amazing. I was on a live chat with Kay Warren when she drew me out of the crowd to ask what was I going to surrender---gulp! I saw Beth Moore as part of the Women of Faith pre conference and I will never, ever forget the freedom she had worshipping the Lord in front of all of us. It taught me so much. I think it was Kay Arthur that did a study years ago on Revelation that helped me so much.
Right now I'm doing Captivating. I know it's Stasi and John Eldredge. The dvd series is Stasi and the entire series is amazing. I plan to use this study for small group situations for quite some time.
Love this...I just get chill bumps at the site of these Wonderful Women of God...also Elizabeth Elliot...she was a friend of my daughter-in-law's grandmother, and my daughter-in-law wrote her a poem one day...all of these are just such instruments of God
What a GREAT 5 this is! I am sO blessed that both of my regular Bible Study groups go all the way straight through Summer! I never have to take a season off! These are some amazing ladies you have highlighted here... God uses them SO well!
Elizabeth Elliot is one of my favorite women's daily devotionals. Such powerful wisdom packed into a daily read. I have yet to do a Kay Arthur or Beth Moore study. Thanks for sharing these links.
Thanks for sharing the links! I'm going to take time to explore them, for sure.
Have a great week!
I can't stop loving Elizabeth Eliot the best, I've heard her speak several times and I admire her spunk.
How wonderful. I love this. My church is thinking about doing a Beth Moore study for the first time, if we can get our committee to approve it. But I’ll be doing the study with or without their approval. Ha. Thanks for sharing this list!
What wonderful links to these amazing women. Thank you!
I'm familiar with all, but I'm sure the links will be great reading. Thanks!
FFF Sisters: Thank you all for coming by today! I've responded to most of you personally by email. I also wanted to add three more names to this list of Bible Study "Rock Stars."
1. Anne Graham Lotz with AnGel Ministries
2. A. Wetherall Johnson, founder of BSF International.
3. Priscilla Shirer with Going Beyond Ministries (pictured in top photo)

As an Aussie I had never consciously heard of her before ...yet the name if not totally unfamiliar.
Certainly I have not read any of her books......so someone else to locate.
Elizabeth Elliot is a long time favorite and I have heard Beth Moore spoken of a lot but never read any of her studies and/or books.
It's really good to hear of some more teachers - I know I can rely on them if they are recommended by you! I'll have to bookmark this post.
Buffy: You're so sweet! You might be interested to know that Jill Briscoe (and her pastor husband) is a British expat. ღ
a week late but one of my big ones would be the late Madeline L'Engle. She wrote a book called "Walking on Water" which has been an encouragement every time. not a devotional in the traditional sense of the word, but each chapter is broken into 1-3 page sections and I have always read it in that sense. :)
Jaeyde: Yes, M. L'engle is a beloved author. Don't know her devotional writings though. Thanks!
I've just ordered a book by Kay Arthur. I've been looking for a companion for Exodus to Deuteronomy for some time :)
Buffy: Great Buffy! Enjoy. ღ
