These illustrations are a powerful way to link the significance of the Jewish Passover with the Christian Crucifixion in the minds of children and adults alike. Via anne kroeker.
The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. (Exodus 12:5-7)
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
(1 Peter 1:18-21)

The most life changing study I have ever participated in was the Precept bible study on "Covenant". It's been about 12 years since I've done the study and honestly, it still blows my mind to think about those precepts and exactly what it means to enter into a holy covenant. It's hard for me to understand how others understand covenants in this day in time without first understanding the "cutting of covenant", and what that actually meant!
Now I want to go back and do the study again....you have inspired me!

I love the parallel between the passover and the cross. Thank you so much for sharing that! I think I might use that in my youth lesson Sunday evening.
It was Kay Arthur...wow, what a study!
