Winter Giveaway & Marriage Monday Poll

Nine Ways Writing About Marriage Changes Things
Written by e-Mom. Follow me on Twitter. Subscribe in a Reader

1. Writing about marriage changes how we think. It clarifies our feelings and encourages us to seek God's Truth. (All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching... 2 Tim 3:16)

2. Writing about marriage makes us wonder what the experts have to say. (With an abundance of counselors there is safety... Prov 11:14)

3. Writing about marriage causes us to reflect on our experience. It gives us the desire to teach others what we've learned. (Teach them to your children and your grandchildren... Deut 4:8-9)

4. Writing about marriage is a safe way to blow off steam. (Don't let the sun go down on your anger... Eph 4:26)

5. Writing about marriage helps us to remember that everyone makes mistakes. We can learn from them and move forward. (All have sinned... Rom 3:23)

6. Writing about marriage reminds us that there will always be areas in our marriage that need improvement. (The ear of the wise seeks knowledge... Prov 18:15)

7. Writing about marriage teaches us about self-control. Alone with our words, we discover we have the power to change the behavior of only one person: ourselves. (Fruit of the spirit is love, joy... and self-control. Gal 5:22-23)

8. Writing about marriage can be a form of prayer. Often, when we write about our problems, our spirit opens up to hear God's answers. (Ask, seek, knock... Matt 7:7)

9. Writing about marriage increases our gratitude for the life partner God has given us. (A good wife is from the Lord... Prov 19:14)

Winter Giveaway & Marriage Monday Poll

If you're a regular contributor to Marriage Monday, you already know the value of sharing what you've learned and experienced in marriage. If you haven't joined us yet, may I encourage you to take one of the points listed above to heart and give it a try?

Since I intend for Marriage Monday to be your meme, I'm asking for your feedback for our group writing topic on February 1, 2010. Please vote for one of five possibilities listed below. (Poll is at the top of my sidebar.)

Feel free to jump in and make your preference known even if you aren't a regular participant. Appropriate for February, the general subject is Valentine's Day. It should be a fun one!

Five Poll Questions (Vote in Sidebar)
  • Three Things that Should Definitely be Taboo on Valentine's Day
  • Hilarious Valentine's Humor & Practical Jokes

  • Bloggy Valentine's Progressive "Dinner"
(Post recipe(s), link to grocery coupon(s), offer foodie giveaway(s) etc. )

  • How to Celebrate February 14 Every Day of the Year

  • Wide Open Topic (Non-Valentine's)

"Tea Forte" Winter Giveaway

Need a little incentive to cast your vote? (No, I didn't think so!) But just in case, I'm offering a Tea Forte sampler to everyone who votes in this poll and who also leaves a comment saying,
"I voted!" (My daughter used these individual tea infusers as table favors at her wedding. They are as delicious as they are charming.)

I'll enter your name in my drawing, and the winner will be announced on Monday Jan. 18, 2010. If you win, you can choose one of seven flavors including chamomile, mint, Earl Grey and green.

I Voted!! Those are some great choices..it was hard to choose just one! ANd I am definitely going to participate in this!

hm...future topics? I would love one about praying as a married couple. I know for my self I need some help in that area....we don't pray nearly enough together yet...what is enough? I would love to know what other couples do regarding prayer in marriage.

For some reason I can't see the poll so I can't officially vote.

I'm with Faith - I love the idea of praying with your hubby...for now, while my hubby remains unsaved, I'll just dream about it in anticipation of Mr. H's salvation. However, I would like to discuss praying FOR your marriage more also. Perhaps the importance of having a group of friends who can keep you accountable in the area of praying for your marriage?

Thanks again for all you do!
