Top Museum for Christian Families

A Trip Through the Creation Museum
Written by e-Mom. Follow me on Twitter

Most of us will never have the opportunity to visit the controversial Answers in Genesis Creation Museum. So a video tour of the Cincinnati location is the next best thing, right?

Of this clip, creator D Coonie says, "The journey starts in the lobby, and ends in the botanical gardens outside of the museum. The Creation Museum is creating new exhibits, one of which is combating the "Year of Darwin." This video was produced from footage filmed on a family vacation. It is an amazing place that everyone should visit." 8:06 mins.

As always, double click the arrow to activate the video. Thank you for coming along on this year's 31-Day (August) Video Marathon.

We have some friends who visited the creation museum last year and said that it is amazing. I would love to go there. It is not a museum per se, but the reproduction of the Old Testament tabernacle in Lancaster, PA was fascinating.

Our absolute favorite museum for couples with children (and we have been to ALOT!) is the Carnegie Mellon Science Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. We literally spent 8 hours there while on a spring break vacation "doing" PA and both my daughters (ages 13 and 9 at the time) loved every minute....totally hands on....check out their website. We also highly recommend for families with children ages 2-8 the Eric Carle Museum near Springfield, MA.

We should really go there sometime. We don't live all that far from the museum, a few hours. Maybe spring break of next year for a quick trip.

I saw this museum on one of the episodes of "18 Kids and Counting" (I love the Duggars!). I thought this was one of the neatest (and most "needed") museums that I've ever seen!

I can't say enough about the Strong Museum for Children in Rochester, NY. It has everything for toddlers through pre teens, and for mom and dad (and grandma and grandpa) they house the National Toy Museum. I saw so many dads left behind playing Space Invaders on the Atari they had there, so many toys and memories. They recently remodeled and it is amazing. A new addition is the butterfly gardens. It's separate admission but we loved it.

My advice? If you are traveling in Upstate NY, make it one aspect of your trip. Consider Corning, NY south of Rochester for the Corning Glass Museum and other tourist locations. Google "Finger Lakes region" and you should be able to find lots to do.

Also thanks Faith for the info on Carnegie. I live an hour away and have never been.

Love museums so much; they never get old (even though it's usually full of old things) The ones with a lot of interactive stuff are my favorite!

so good for our children to learn where we came from...and what others went through to bring us where we are.
