Gary Chapman Discusses His Latest Book (YouTube)
Posted by e-Mom. Follow me on Twitter
You're probably familiar with Gary Chapman's best-seller, The Five Love Languages. In that book Chapman discusses the idea that each individual responds most favorably to one or more of the following expressions of love:
• Words of Affirmation
• Quality Time
• Gifts
• Acts of Service
• Physical Touch
In this short YouTube video, Chapman introduces the idea that these expressions of love go beyond our human relationships to include the God of the universe. Doesn't it make sense that the one who created everything in the first place speaks your love language? And doesn't it also stand to reason that your expressions of love toward Him are also shaped by your personal love language?
Dr. Chapman's stated goal for readers of God Speaks Your Love Language is that they "may be led to explore the possibility of speaking different love languages to God, and thus expand their own understanding of God and the people around them." 2:30 mins. I would have to say that Words of Affirmation are my love language. I find myself in desparate need of encouragement so often.
My primary one is Gifts. My secondary one is Quality Time or Physical Touch..not really sure as they are close.

I would have to say, Words of Affirmation, but I also really enjoy Acts of Service.

Andrea: Aw, you're so sweet. So nice to have you back in blogland. :~D
I do know that I never feel closer to God than when I am singing, or when I am listening to praise and worship. There are times when the songs eerily reflect my life, situation or struggle.
It was also amazing to me that if I worship God in other love languages that I would learn more about him.
Just the video has given me much to think about.
Great post!
Seesaw FaithI like your insight! It was also amazing to me that if I worship God in other love languages that I would learn more about him. Bless you in your discovery of Him. :~D
