“ Look at the birds of the air; they do not
sow or reap or store away in barns, and yetyour heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
much more valuable than they? Who of you by
worrying can add a single hour to his life?
(Matt 6:25-27 NIV)

"Things looked bleak for the children of George Mueller's orphanage at Ashley Downs in England. It was time for breakfast, and there was no food. A small girl whose father was a close friend of Mueller was visiting in the home. Mueller took her hand and said, 'Come and see what our Father will do.' In the dining room, long tables were set with empty plates and empty mugs. Not only was there no food in the kitchen, but there was no money in the home's account.
Mueller prayed, 'Dear Father, we thank Thee for what Thou art going to give us to eat.' Immediately, they heard a knock at the door. When they opened it, there stood the local baker. 'Mr. Mueller,' he said, 'I couldn't sleep last night. Somehow I felt you had no bread for breakfast, so I got up at 2 o'clock and baked fresh bread. Here it is.' Mueller thanked him and gave praise to God. Soon, a second knock was heard. It was the milkman. His cart had broken down in front of the orphanage. He said that before the milk spoiled, he would like to give it to the children.
What a powerful reminder that prayer is never secondary, it's always primary. It's not the last recourse, when options run out; it's the first and best recourse."

I pray both ways, but mostly conversational.
Thanks for a great story of God's faithfulness.
I have always been more conversational in my prayers, but recently I have been trying to apply the ACTS formula to my prayers. Adoration Confession Thanksgiving Supplication. This helps me to be more disciplined in my praying so that I am not merely rattling off my "I want" list, but rather taking time to thoughtfully talk to God.
Thank you for sharing that story - it gave me shivers!
Amen! Prayer is very powerful!
Amen, prayer is the key.
This is one of my all time favorite verses! I'm so thankful for a Heavenly Father who cares about my every need. Thanks for the reminder! Happy WFW!
Oh and what a great story of God's provision!
What faith George Mueller had! Oh to have a mustard seed of that! My prayer is both. I like the conversational though best!
I have heard that story before. It is amazing isn't it?
This verse is something I really need to cling to because more often then not I tend to let worry in...whether it's a little or a lot! I say I trust God, but where is that trust when worry creeps in? Ya know?
Thank you for sharing.
conversational. :)
and wow...that photo reminds me of where my hubby is right now....
ahhhh israel. :) how i miss thee..and my hubby.
oh i'm a conversationalist... i don't really stop talking to God... but there is a reference in there above a regular conversation for sure!
Sweet WFW Sisters: Loved your thoughts about prayer. "ACTS" is a good discipline to follow, April! Bless you all....
Oh, I never tire or reading about God's faithfulness!
Thanks for sharing that awesome story.
I must say my prayers change according to my need and where I'm at.
In desperate times, it's "please help me Jesus", and other times I find my self starting out thanking Him for one thing and and it leads to many others. Often from there a time of praise and worship will follow.
And of course, there's times of repentance.
I know God loves hearing our voices, and knows our deepest thoughts and motives.
I want mine to be pleasing♥
Beautiful illustration of the power of faith!
