wait for it patiently.” (Rom 8:25 NIV)

It's so hard to wait. In our culture we're used to instant messaging, fast food, and quick check-out lines. God, on the other hand, seems to move much too slowly. We grumble and complain, "Why isn't He answering our prayers?"
Remember that growth in the natural environment takes time. Lots of time. It takes a whole year for nature to cycle through the seasons. Winter seems to drag by the slowest, probably because so much movement is under the surface and hidden from view. Instead of despairing in our waiting, let's allow Lord to encourage us with the Scripture verses above.
Lord thank you for hearing our prayers. Even when nothing appears to be happening, we trust that you are at work. We know you will answer us according to your will, and in your timing. Teach us how to rest and be patient during during the "winters" of our lives. We pray this in your mighty name, Amen.
Patience is one of the main ingredients necessary for a successful submitted life. Yet it is something that is sorely lacking in most of our lives because it requires us to release control of a situation. We must walk in faith, believing that God will intervene when we are called to submit to someone in authority.—P. Bunny Wilson, Liberated Through Submission (PDF)
On a scale of 1-10, how patient are you?

Oh wow...I am patient in some long term areas of my life but on a daily basis, not as much as I'd like to be.
And I just read in your side bar the post about Bringing up Girls. I must have just skimmed it before because I gleaned some great stuff again just now! :)
Hugs!
Awesome sweetie.
Happy WFW!
Blessings
How patient am I? humm..... not so much but getting better! I am one of those who asks that question all the time! I'm so thankful God and others are patient with me!
Hmmm . . . 5? I'm working on it though!
God's been teaching me lately about waiting on Him.
This was an awesome post! Patience is a good thing. Love the pictures and Scriptures you shared. Beautiful. Happy WFW!
amen amen and amen to that!
Beautiful picture! Great words and encouragement on patience. I'm pretty patient, but not as much as I would like to be!i
Oh, what a GREAT word E-mom, and I loved the pictures you choose to illustate this so beautifully!
I'm just so blessed God is PATIENT with me!!
Learning to wait on Him is something that causes me to grow like no other way.
Great quote too. Did you get the book? I love Bunny, she was a great mentor in my life.
Blessings to you this WFW♥
Great post, as usual! My level of patience often depends on who I'm dealing with. I tend to have more patience with my children and less patience with adults. No matter who I'm dealing with, I need to have more patience.
I was glad to see your mention of Liberated By Submission. It was a hard read for me, but wealth worth the wisdom it offered!
Patience is something I'm working on, however I do fairly well.
Great Scriptures!
I am patient with my students and most of the time my own children. I tend to be more patient when it comes to long term things rather than short term. I am most impatient in traffic....if 10 is the most patient then I am probably about a 6.
I need to practice to be more patient in certain areas of my life!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Happy WFW!!
I love the verse you included that talks about hope, too. There is something I am needing to be patient and trusting in God to work out right now. He seems to be giving me that patience and hope I need on a day to day basis.
Thanks for the verse and commentary.
Sigh - ahhhh - clean air - that's how your post felt as I read through it.
I really thought I was a patient person - I can stand content in a line up - I don't get upset at red lights, I can be patient with people and people tell me I'm patient. I can be really patient when it's not personal!
BUT when it's personal I find myself quoting Psalm 143 'Answer me quickly Lord, my spirit faints -do not turn your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the grave'
Sounds bit dramatic doesn't it but I figure if David could say it - then it's mine to say also.
So I guess I'm learning that in the things that matter - I'm not that patient :) Long reply for a short answer :)
(((hug)))

Susan: I haven't read the full text of P. Bunny Wilson's book; only the (PDF) Chapter I linked to in this post. I've read other things by her on this topic, though--she's powerful!
Living Beyond: Lol, I can certainly relate to you and your love of Ps 143. Patience in personal matters is a challenge for me too. :~D
beautifully done! I loved it!
Amydeanne: Thanks sister!
What I liked about this post was the reminder that just because it seems like nothing is actively happening sometimes, it doesn't mean there isn't growth and preparation going on beneath the surface, and in a way we cannot understand at the time. Winter is an excellent example.
