Shhhh... This Blog is Sleeping

Meanwhile, I’m Dancing the Hula

A bit of an oxymoron isn’t it? Sleeping and hula dancing at the same time!

As you may already know, I’ll be away from the computer for four weeks, starting today. I’ve been gathering Aloha shirts, sandals, sunscreen, and something respectable (but cool) to wear as MOB. Our daughter’s Hawaii wedding is going to be held in a tropical garden venue under a festooned bamboo chupah
.
We're so excited!

They've planned an intimate morning ceremony with a luncheon reception in the adjacent restaurant. The officiating pastor is from New Hope Christian Fellowship,
a 10,000 member Foursquare Church with several satellite locations. The rehearsal dinner will be held in a restaurant right on Waikiki Beach, just below Diamond Head.

I've arranged a spa lingerie shower for the ladies the day before the wedding. Shortly after their honeymoon in the islands, the happy couple will be moving to back to the "mainland." We're hosting a big going-away BBQ here in the Pacific Northwest before the newlyweds depart for new jobs on the (American) east coast. Busy times!

Please Join Us for Marriage Monday in July

So, while we’re dancing the hula, this blog will be snoozing. I’ll be back at Chrysalis for Marriage Monday on July 7, 2008. After that, I plan to stick around for the rest of the summer. I should have plenty of time to visit and comment on your blog then. Meanwhile, though, I will really miss you.

E Hookumu Maua ka Hale Puni Maua Ohana me ka Pumehana a me ka Oiloli Kealoha.

"May we create a home that surrounds our family and friends with warmth, laughter and love."

Are you planning a vacation getaway
this summer?

Sorry I didn't join in the Marriage Monday...I deleted my blog again :) I have no blog staying power, but no doubt I will be back again, and again.

To answer the question you asked on my blog about whether Brits are gullible and whether they would have been taken in by the high school experiment I mentioned:

E-Mom - I think Brits are just as easily swayed by this kind of prank, it plays on our fears. That's why we're so scared of everything these days, lol.

It all depends which newspaper one reads, if one reads the Guardian the world's troubles are all to do with Green issues and civil liberties; if one reads the Daily Mail or Telegraph it's because of the decline in morals and asylum seekers; and if you read the Sun who cares because so-and-so has kissed and told and there's a three page spread with lots of photos ;)

Here in the UK we moan a lot about political things but no-one votes because we don't trust politicians...just TV pundits and newpapers ;)

I hope you have a wonderful time, I'll stop by next month in case you share some photos! :)

Hugs.

Emom, we will so miss you but I wish all the very best for the special bride and groom!
I'm not positive, but I really think that church you mentioned was where we visited the Sunday my husband and I went on our first trip to Hawaii in '05!

Have a wonderful time in Hawaii!!!

(And thanks for fixing my "wonky" link to the wedding post!)

Blessings!
~Tammy

MiPa: Thank you. :~D

DebD: Have fun in ME!

Found: Mahalo (thank you) and Aloha!

A Stone Gatherer: Lol, lingurie spa thingy. Yes, I think it will be fun. :~D

Sarah: Well, we'll certainly look forward to your return to blogdom... whenever it occurs. :~D

Thanks for your reply to my question. I've read most of those newspapers online. What about the BBC and The London Times? The Sun is a tabloid, right? Our sense here is that England (and Europe) generally leans the left. True?

Jennifer: Thanks so much. You honeymooned on Kauai, right? What a lovely spot for a special vacation. :~D

Crickl: So nice to hear from you! I'll stop by "The Nest" soon. Enjoy the mountains this summer.

Tammy Small world! I wonder if it was the same church!

Wayne Cordeiro is the senior pastor at New Hope on Oahu. Jennifer at Diary of 1 mentioned that he started out as a youth pastor at their church in Oregon. (Maybe you live near her?)

I'll miss you too. Aloha for now!
(Please pray there are no earthquakes...)

re your question. our only vacation plans are trips to the grocery store to restock diapers and milk. :) and that (i am sure) will be exciting enough on its own.

happy wedding celebrations!

Roo: Lol, thanks for "whispering" your comment. I look forward to hearing all about your trips to the store... :~D

e-Mom, we'll miss you and your wonderful posts, but I'm sure you wouldn't trade the opportunity you have to be at your daughter's wedding in Hawaii for anything in the world!! What a major blessing for them and you as MOB! Hawaii is beautiful, all of the islands (well I didn't see 2 of them). I lived on Oahu for 4 years, at Tripler Housing (above the big pink hospital)and Aliamanu Military Reservation. Try to stop off LikeLike-pronounced lee-kay lee-kay (I think this is the right street to take, but ask around) and go to the Big Kahuna's to get one of the biggest, tastiest sandwiches you've ever had. Go to an official luau. Shop at Ala Moana open-air mall. HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!! I want to go back just to relax and vacation one day, not live. Congrats to your daughter and new son-in-law.

e-Mom said...

Peculiar: You actually lived in Hawaii? Wow, that's fabulous. Thanks for your great tips. (We plan to spend at least one day on the beach vacation-style.) See you when we get back. Aloha!

WOW! Time has been so busy here that I almost missed knowing you are in my favorite place to be! Aloha, my friend, may God bless and bless the time with your family!

Looking forward to your tropical story when you return.

Oh E-Mom,

I hope it was absolutely perfect..

Hey, email me when you return. What is our topic on July 7th. I will be traveling but will try to join the fun. Love you!

e-Mom said...

Jan: Thank you so much... you're the best!

Connie Marie: Missing you too. I thought of yourr trip to the islands while we were on Oahu. :~D

Lynn: The wedding WAS perfect, thanks. Our daughter's amazing organizational skills were only eclipsed by her radiant beauty and happiness.

As for us, we're still recovering, and adjusting to this momentous event that has just occurred in our family. (With more socializing still to go.)

Our MM topic for July is open. You're free to write on marriage from whatever angle you choose. Easy! :~D

Angela: Thanks for your invitation! Unfortunately, I can't commit to anything just yet. But thanks so much for checking in. Missing you. :~D

Susan: Thanks for stopping by. We're catching our breath before the newlyweds arrive home very soon. Life should return to normal again around here in a couple of weeks... I hope!

Missing you my sweet friend! :~D

e-mom, I hope you're having a ton of fun, but we miss you! I'm glad you'll be back next week:)

Awwww!! Have fun while you are away. I'm sure you will. I'm also sure that your daughter's wedding will be absolutely beautiful. I know I haven't been by in a while...and for that I apologize. I went through a tough time with a situation with my youngest daughter that put me in a state of doing good to pray, read my Bible and blog on my own site. Then I've had the latest situation with the murder of my brother that has been very difficult. I've let things keep me from checking in on blogs. I've had all intentions on getting back to it but I just haven't let myself go there.

I'm glad to see you are still posting and doing well as well as being a blessing to many.

Take care and have a great mini-vacation.

Andrea: Thanks so much for stopping by! :~D

Sis Julie: You poooooor thing. I can't believe your terrible, tragic news. I'll stop by your blog soon and catch up. Bless YOU!
