Humor: Thirteen Silly Sniglets

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. (John 6:63 NIV)

What's a Sniglet?

Sniglets are words that aren't in the dictionary—but should be. The Washington Post holds a contest every year and people from all over the world submit their best examples. The name “singlet” was first invented by the humorist,
Rich Hall.

Aquadextrous

Possessing the ability to turn the bathtub tap on and off with your toes.

Carperpetuation
The act, when vacuuming, of running over a string or a piece of lint at least a dozen times, reaching over and picking it up, examining it, then putting it back down to give the vacuum one more chance.

Elbonics
The actions of two people maneuvering for one armrest in a movie theater.

● Frust
The small line of debris that refuses to be swept onto the dust pan and keeps backing a person across the room until he finally decides to give up and sweep it under the rug.

Jiffylust
The passionate desire to be the first person to dip into a brand new jar of peanut butter.

Kawashocky
Pulling into what you thought was an empty parking space, only to discover a motorcycle was parked there.

Keyfruit
The one apple, pear, or other fruit in the display which, when removed, causes the entire pile to collapse.

Microtrek
Repeated trips to the microwave to make sure the food hasn't overcooked.

Mowmuffins
The accumulated clumps of dried grass on the underside of the lawn mower.

Negatile
That one spot on the bathroom floor where the scale says you weigh five pounds less.

Optortionist
The kid at school who could turn his eyelids inside out.

Pajangle
Waking up to find your pajamas have turned 180 degrees around while you were sleeping.

Phonesia
Forgetting who you were calling just as that person picks up the phone.

Sorry--may be a double post. Mine just kind of disappeared.

I was saying: I remember having a book of sniglets, maybe way back in the seventies or eighties. These were really funny....

My colleague has posted some excellent photos:

ha ha! I have two favs up there. The first was phonesia which I am a sufferer. The other is the kawashocky-the motorcycle in the parking space. If I had a dime for each time I am deceived by this!

I am not thinking this is a sniglet but is a new word I use. It is bloggy-it refers to all things in blog land. (My bloggy friends.)

Much love,
Angela

Very fun!! I need to pay attention to my children's conversations, because they constantly make up sniglets. I think kids are especially good at this; they haven't developed the language inhibitions yet that adults have!
